Color n Notebook Line Removal by zakniteh Color n Notebook Line Removal by zakniteh
This is a tutorial on how to remove notebook paper lines as well as any other unwanted color from a traditional sketch or finished image in Adobe Photoshop.

I use Photoshop 7.0 but I'm sure the same process can be applied to newer versions of the program.

If anything is unclear or you need further help, let me know and I'll try to be of some assistance. =)

I was able to remove the red lines from my picture but the horizontal blue lines are turning gray. When I choose Blue from the menu nothing changes. When I choose Cyan then it turns to gray. Have you seen this before?

Sometimes that happens to me. In those cases I adjust the levels/brightness & contrast a bit beforehand to make reds, cyans, yellows purer. You can also play around with the Vibrance tool (Image > Adjustments> Vibrance) to make those colors pop. Then try removing it with the Hue/Saturation tool.

I have red and blue lines in my notebook picture. The red vertical lines remove ok but the blue horizontal lines turn gray. If I choose Blue it doesn't change anything. If I choose Cyan then it turns it gray (light gray). Have you seen this before?

For some reason, the blue lines turn gray when i scan them. This happens even when i scan in color. :| Is that a settings problem?...

Hmm, could be. When I scan I use the default settings and then alter everything in Photoshop.
Have you tried resetting?

Hmm, you can up the vibrancy in Photoshop to see if that makes the blue (and other colors) more noticeable?

You're so smart! :glomp:
i've downloaded this to refer to.
Before I just made it greyscale then messed with the levels before doing a boring clean up job with the clone tool. this is so much better.

I love you Zakky-poo!
